Jack woke up in his own bed, in his own hut, with his own boyfriend pulled close. They'd had a shitty night, between both of them losing the election and Jack's raging jealousy over Greg's...whatever...with the Doctor.

But now the sun was up and Jack laid there, watching Greg sleep. Not for very long, though. It was only a few minutes before he leaned in and kissed him beneath the ear.

House couldn't remember the last time - if ever - he'd claimed a headache as an excuse for not having sex. But last night when they'd climbed into bed and Jack had started to kiss him... well, it was really more that he was too depressed even for sex. Which was, granted, a little weird. But his head really did hurt, too. Even Jack's offer of a blowjob didn't sway him and so they'd just curled up and gone to sleep.

He woke with Jack's lips to his ear, but didn't feel a whole lot better in the light of day. "Morning," he murmured.

"How are you feeling?" he whispered, more worried than he wanted to let on. For the first time...ever...last night he'd actually noticed Greg's age. He looked so tired and unwell. "I was thinking about going and grabbing some food. You want some? Breakfast in bed?"

"If you want," House said noncommitally, moving only slightly.

"You should eat something," he said quietly, kissing his way down Greg's neck.

"Mmmm," House agreed, "I should. Maybe some coffee, too, my head's killing me..."

"Probably has something to do with that bottle of wine you downed," he said, kissing his way across a bare shoulder. "Don't get up. I'll be right back."

"Mmmm," House mumbled, and simply turned back over and closed his eyes, falling asleep again before Jack returned.

Jack went to the compound and returned with coffee, fruit, muffin things and some leftover boar from the party. He sat it on the table, and poured a cup for Greg before moving to the side of the bed.

"Breakfast's here," he said, stroking his arm.

House woke up again, and forced himself to sit up a little. "Thanks." He took the cup of coffee and took a sip.

"No problem," Jack said, returning to the table and bringing a plate on a wood tray. Fork. Spoon. Syringe. "I got you this, too."

House looked at the syringe. Oh, the herbal stuff. He'd been trying not to use it two days in a row, but fuck it.

He sat up. "Thanks." Again.

"That's the new batch. Sanders said it's more like morphine," Jack explained. "He also said that you would be the best judge of differences, if you wanted to try it."

Jack went back to pour his own coffee, eating some meat with his back to Greg. It wasn't like the hut was so big there was anywhere else to go. Except outside.

House took the opportunity of Jack not watching him to inject the drug into his arm. He didn't feel anything right away, so he put down the syringe and took a bite of bread.

He ate a little more and drank his coffee as he looked out the window. He felt like a complete asshole for the things he'd said, but wasn't quite sure how to apologize.

He knew he couldn't take it back.

"I got tylenol, too," he said, back still turned.

"I think I'm - " House blinked, actually feeing it start to kick in a little. His head felt better, and his leg ached a little less. "I think this is fine."

"Okay," he replied, finally turning back to look at him. "I'm sorry. About last night. I was out of line."

House hesitated. "It's... okay. And I didn't mean to uh, obsess. I was upset about the election."

"There'll be another one in six months. If you're still here, if you want..." he shrugged. "Or, you know, I talked to one woman who was going on about judges. That might work out." He was just running on, not sure what to say as he sat back down on the bed carefully.

"Well we'll see how I feel in six months," House sighed. "Right now I'm just content to not give a shit."

"Okay," he agreed again, easing closer. "Eat. Before you get nauseous."

The side of House's mouth quirked up a little. "Yes, mommy."

Jack smirked and shook his head. "Just playing doctor. And not in the good way. Greg said it had side effects, maybe."

"What kind of side effects?" House asked warily.

"Like morphine, without the itching, I guess."

House sighed. "Addictive?"
