Too many parties, too much to drink. He'd had a hangover for two days and he'd spent a lot of time in the shower just trying to wash the smell of alcohol off of himself.

Finally sobered and clean, he made sure his hair was dry before he bundled up and made the trek back to the cabin. He opened the door with panache, smiling as he proclaimed "Hi, honey, I'm ho--"

House was on the bed, turning a pill bottle that didn't tick anymore. It was quiet. That meant empty. Jack's gut twisted, but his smile didn't fade in the least.

"Home," he finished.

House thought it was some sort of great irony, given the contents of that last reel he'd watched, that it was Christmas Day and he'd just popped into his mouth the last Vicodin out the bottle.

He lifted an eyebrow at Jack. "I wasn't sure I'd see you sober until New Years."

"What fun is getting drunk if you don't have sober to remind you why you shouldn't drink?" he replied with a weak smile, eyes locked on that bottle. "You're out."

House's mouth quirked up a little. "What good are drugs if you don't have sober time to remind you what a martyr you are for going without the most of the time?"

"Martyr's wind up dead," he pointed out, then joined House on the bed. "How long do we have? Before it gets bad?"

"Not today," said House matter-of-factly. "See, it's a Christmas miracle." He reached out and laid his hand on Jack's arm.

"Yeah, a miracle."

Jack leaned over and kissed him softly. "I'm not looking forward to seeing you hurt, Greg."

"I'd be kind of creeped out if you were," House admitted.

"Yeah," he nodded, considering it for a moment. "Yeah, I think I'd be creeped out, too."

"You know..." House shoved the empty bottle into his pocket. "There's probably not much use in saying this, but... it really wouldn't... I mean, I wouldn't fault you if you just wanted to... not. It's not as if there's much you can do by being here anyway."

Jack looked at him blankly for a second then shook his head. "I'm not going anyplace. I'll do what I can, and when I run out of that...I'll be here. You're not going to do this alone, Greg."

"Well, I thought you'd say that. But I figured I should at least be the bigger man and point it out."

"Yeah, I know." Jack leaned in and kissed him lightly, just once. "You're a good boyfriend."

House snorted. "Oh, yeah, I'm a jewel. Merry Christmas, you get the spend the next week holding my head over a bucket."

"And I had such big plans. I was going to freeze my balls off, and maybe hold people's hands when the shelf decided their reels would be great gifts," he said, arching his brow. "I'd rather be here. With you. However."

"Well this is a good time to be with me," House said. "How do you feel like spending my last hours of freedom?"

Jack's eyebrow arched a little higher and he grinned. "You still feeling okay right now?"

"They always say the last one in the bottle is the best."

"Mmm, I see," he answered, then started tugging Greg's shirt up. "I'm going to take advantage of that fact."

"Mmmm," agreed House, reaching for Jack's shirt as well, shuddering a little when the cool air hit his skin. "Once I'm in too much pain for this will you let me watch you jerk off?"

"If that's what you want," Jack whispered against Greg's neck. He made quick work of the shirt and started on his jeans. "Sorry about not having that bearskin rug."

"I was just thinking how long it's been since you've gone a week without sex," House teased, sliding a hand down to Jack's crotch, skating his fingers deftly over the outline of the beginnings of his erection.

"It's been a while," he nodded as he caught his breath. "Nnnngh, God. Greg, if it'll make you feel better, I'll put on any show you want. I know you like to watch." He pressed his bare chest against Greg's, then caught him by the neck and kissed him hard.

"I sure like to watch you," House agreed, and lowered his head to nip lightly at the skin on Jack's neck. "How could anyone not?"

"I don't know," he chuckled as he moved them both toward the bed. "I know what you like to watch, too. I'd do the dirtiest things. Make you want to fuck me so bad..."
