On Christmas, Jack and House spend one last time together without pain. [NC-17] Days later, on the 27th, Daniel comes to check in and Jack is showing signs of how much the ordeal is effecting him. The 28th, House decides he needs to go to the clinic to leave an assignmet for the medical students. He snaps at Jack, who walks out, then runs into Roger. That evening, Jack returns to the hut and the daily routine of helping House through the process continues. Daniel returns and Jack is slipping drastically. On the 29th, Daniel talks to Trance, who goes to talk to Cuddy. Later, Cuddy comes to check in and Jack tries several ways to get some Vicodin from her. Finally, she leaves and Trance arrives. Jack leaves House in her care. He finds Cuddy still waiting for him and she takes him to the Compound, feeds him and showers with him, then he goes to Ianto and Daniel's for some real sleep. It's only then that anyone really knows how exhausted he is from trying to do everything on his own.

Refreshed, he returns to House who is marginally better. As he sleeps, Jack talks to Wilson.
