Upon further thought, maybe sparring in New Atlantis with Captain Thrace hadn't been the greatest idea.Jack had stopped at the kitchen to get some ice for his jaw and moved a little slower than usual. He was sore. He figured Thrace wasn't even as half as sore as he was. He'd landed a few good shots but nothing like her. And here he'd thought he wasn't bad. Oh, but she was good.She was trained. And, he thought, she had the benefit of being pissed off.

He came in the hut and sat down at the kitchen table with a low groan. He felt like he didn't want to move again.

"What I say to other people? You mean how I tell them I love you? How I go out of my way not to flirt with people? How I'm honest about what I know will make you jealous?" Jack asked. "I don't know how shitty anyone would think you are when I am completely devoted to you."

"Sometimes the way you say that stuff... It makes me sound manipulative. Or, like, emotionally abusive. At least when you say it to me it does," Logan said, quietly trying to explain why he was upset.

"I know you don't mean it, but- that's how it sounds, okay?"

"I'm sorry. That's not what I meant. At all," Jack said, pulling on his pants and then tugging on his shirt.

"I'm sorry if you think that. I'm sorry I make you feel that way, Logan. I'd have thought by now that you know how I feel about you. You're the only person I never lie to, you know? Not about anything. I wouldn't hide it if I thought you were twisting me up to be cruel."

Barefoot, Jack headed for the door to go to the clinic.

"I'll be back."

"Wait I-"

But Jack was already gone.

"I was going with you," he said quietly, sitting down on the edge of the bed and staring down at his feet.

Jack had time to calm down and think. And that last little tiff had killed his hard on so he didn't need to worry about that. He didn't even say anything to the doctor on duty. The nanos were no more complicated than a band aid, no need to make paperwork.

He walked back a little slower, thinking of what Logan had said. How did he talk about Logan to other people? He was so in love...he was sure people thought he was a fool. He couldn't believe anyone would think Logan manipulated him. Manipulated Jack Harkness...there was something to laugh about. Except maybe not. Jack knew he had little sense when it came to Logan. He would do anything to make his husband happy.

"Do I make you happy?"he asked as he came through the door and stalked through the house til he found Logan.

"What?" Logan asked, looking up from the board he was working on.

"Of course you make me happy. I love you. You mean everything. Why would you ask that?"

He paused a beat and looked worried. "Do I make you happy?"

"You make me happier than I've ever been in my life. And that is what I tell people about you. I thought we didn't care what people thought about us, Logan. I thought it was us against the world. You know I don't think you're emotionally abusive. You can be manipulative, but that's the difference between being rough in the spare room and actually abusing me, see?"

Thinking it over had taken up every moment since he'd left and he was sure he had a good argument.

"It is us against the world- but I'm sick of the world hating me. I worry, okay? Maybe that's stupid, and it's not your fault that I do... But i worry. I worry, okay?" he said softly.

Getting up, he put the wax aside and stepped up to Jack.

"I love you, I wasn't trying to upset you."

"I don't do anything to make the world hate you, Logan," Jack said gently. He reached up to rub the bruise that still lingered on his jaw. It was too bad off for the nanos to do anything about.

"You've got to stop thinking everyone's out to get you. God, so many people have vanished that there's probably more people here who don't know you than who do. Fresh start...if you want it."

Logan shook his head.

"I don't want to know them. I have you. I have Joe. I have Anne and Matthew. That's all I need."

"Then why do you care what anyone else thinks of our marriage? They probably don't think of us at all. we're quiet. We're happy. We're settled. Aside from having a room for some phenomenal sex, we're just another normal couple who's been here longer than most," Jack said as he came over to Logan and cradled his face. "And I don't think you're awful. I think you're the most wonderful man I've ever met."

"Well now I know you're lying," Logan said with a tight laugh, closing his eyes as he leaned into Jack's touch.

"You're right, I'm sorry- I just saw all those bruises and I snapped. All this stuff came rushing out."

"I'm almost all better," he said, peeling his shirt up so Logan could see his body-- free of bruises.

"The one on my jaw is still there. I took a little too much damage there, I guess. But it's okay," he assured his husband.

Logan touched the newly held skin, and then relaxed as he slipped his arms around the other man.

"I was going to go with you," he said after a moment. "I'm sorry you ended up going alone."

"It's okay. In and out, no questions or conversation," Jack said softly. Jack held onto Logan in return and it did feel better to hold him against his body without wincing.

"I love you, Logan. No matter what we do or how we play or the things we say...I love you more than anything. If you ever vanished..."

Jack was instantly choked up and went quiet for a long moment.

"I'd want to fight as hard as Kara did, too."

Logan wanted to point out that it wouldn't bring him back, but even he knew that wasn't the right reply.

"I'll never vanish on you," he said quietly. "This island will never take me away from you, and it'll never take you from me. And if it does? I'll find you again."

He held on tighter than he meant to, holding Jack's hips and closing his eyes.

"I know. It's my biggest fear, though. Just so you know," Jack said quietly. "Most of the time I don't think about it, but then we have one of these waves and I get...nervous."

"Me too," Logan confessed. "I don't think I could stay here if I lost you."

"Can we....just go to bed? I mean, unless you wanted to finish what you were doing," Jack said, willing to go into either room with the younger man.

"We can go to bed. I don't feel like hurting you anymore. I mean, unless you need it," he offered, knowing sometimes it wasn't a matter of want.

"No. No, I just need to be close to you," Jack replied. "Not even sex. I just need to be close to you."

Logan nodded, catching Jack's hand and tugging him gently into the bedroom.

"I can do that," he said simply.

"Mmm, see, that's why I love you," Jack grinned, following along willingly.
