Shady had been strange, but Jack had promised. He wasn't quite sure what to expect. Okay, that wasn't entirely true, but he wasn't sure specifically. After all was said and done, he trekked to the Keep to find her.
"You can't go back. You can't make it different," he answered quietly, pulling away enough to look at her, and for the briefest moment, there was murder in his eyes. He could kill he so easily. He could do it. It wouldn't be hard. He'd killed so many people, some of them just this intimately. Murder in his eyes, but not in his heart.
He'd left all that behind. He couldn't do it anymore, and she wasn't asking, nor was she a target. She was just a broken woman who no one could fix. No one could make anything better or easier. Not Jack. Not even death.
"...But you can't live like this, either. You're flirting with disaster, Shady. You know that, right?"
So many kinds of wrong, and Jack couldn't fault her at all. She really wasn't alone, he did the exact same things, in nearly the same order. Just...not for as long.
He twisted his fingers in her hair, gripping and pulling as he kissed her back with matching force. His other hand rested half on her throat, the fingers curving up against her cheek. She tasted strongly of the Dragon's Blood, too strong, and after another minute, he tore himself away.
It was just the question, what it meant, what it implied that made her face twist to anger, her eyes smolder. "Leave. Now." He'd gone too far. "The only man I was kissing was you. Get out."
It took her barely a moment to get out of his lap, for her fury to be palpable- and he was lucky that she didn't have her daggers on her.
He exhaled and began to stand. "I know you were kissing me, but you could have been from the moment I got here. It wasn't until..."
Until I could have killed you as easily as breathing
"...I mentioned disaster. Liar can tell a liar, especially up close," he said, making his way to his feet, only to stumble back hard against the wall. "Shit...how far is it to the ground?"
"Over twenty feet." Her smile was gone. "You stay. I'll go." She had more then him, but she was used to it.
"Be gone in the morning." She moved, focusing past the alcohol, not really willing to listen to his blathering. She tucked the flask into her pack before dressing, then dropping the pack to the ground below.
"Are you fucking joking? I can't stay here," Jack said quietly. He was fluid, nearly blissful. Whatever she'd given him was amazing.
He pushed off the wall and made it to the door. Twenty feet. One ladder. He'd gotten out of worse, he was sure. He had to have. He was still alive.
"I promised I'd always come back." He said it mostly to himself as he contemplated the distance, then looked at her once more. "Thanks for the drink. And...be careful."
A liar could only keep going for so long before the truth crept up and cut the legs out from below.
"I'm not going to be shut in prison forever because you were a moron." It took her less time to grab one of her daggers and follow him then it did for him to contemplate the distance, and when he turned to look again she easily placed one foot on the railing and applied the blunt handle of her dagger to the back one of Captain Jack Harkness' head.
She wouldn't leave then - not until he woke up, but at least it'd stop him from busting his legs and leaving her in a rut.
"By Fortune's left, why do you have to be so heavy?" The last person she'd done this too-

The first spark he'd seen in her thus far, and it was so that she wouldn't have to listen. Wouldn't have to think about it.

No. She wouldn't think about him.
She needed another drink.
