After Halloween the four person arrangement was well affixed. Jack had the Doctor and House, Rob had the Doctor and House, Jack and Rob acted like 12 year olds together, and it was complicated but there was a balance.
But then he met Dr. Lisa Cuddy. Shortly after that, Wilson kisses him in the kitchen and Jack freezes, reminded of the horrors of Opposite Weekend. He tells House and they fight.
The days go by and Jack plays Pooh Sticks with Christopher Robin. His desire to matter to someone crystalizes and he starts to wonder what it would be like if he was a father. He meets Lisa on the beach and they talk about deeply personal things. Jack promises he'll care for her and she doesn't need to be scared.
Once the treehouse is complete, Jack takes House to his own room. The conversation gets a bit heavy - nightmares and what happened to Jack in the cave and House's issues with sexual violence - and then things get hot and heavy. [Link NC17]. Later that night he runs into Lisa and they spend the night in Jack's bedroom. This is a big thing because of Jack only sleeps with people he trusts.
Jack finds the nanobots and takes them to the clinic. He shows Wilson how they work by cutting his arm. Wilson thinks he's a little bit nuts.
The next day he sees Lisa in the clinic and agrees to pick her up afterward. That evening, in private, Lisa asks Jack to father her baby. He agrees without consulting anyone else. Before they begin to try, Cuddy and Wilson have a very steamy night. [Link NC17]. The next night, Jack and Lisa begin babydancing. He takes it very seriously and finds her every 12 hours, even on her birthday.
Jack tells House about the babydancing and he is unhappy, more than a little. The Doctor hosts Thanksgiving. Most notable is Clarice and Jack's fight . She can't be around him, or even friends, because of Faramir. He tries to pass it off which hurts her and makes her mad. Adding to Jack's unbalanced emotional state, he finds out House kissed Cuddy and they fight more. Jack tells House he better not dare try to take this one thing away from him. He sees Lisa later that night and tells her that if she's not pregnant, he can't try again. Confessions are made, stories are told, tears are shed, and all is made right again as they connect in a new and powerful way.
Jack goes dino hunting with Sarah Jane, but makes sure to kiss the Doctor goodbye...just in case. He returns, but goes to Dale's (which he consistantly refers to as 'home'). Dale returns from his run and a very sweaty Dale and a very dirty and bloody Jack go to the Compound to take a shower and talk deeply.
High from the dino hunt, Jack jumps in eagerly to fight the squid. Afterward, he checks up on Lisa. That night he gets stoned to ease the pain that settles in after the adrenaline wears off. Wilson joins him and they get royally stoned, pillage the kitchen, and in the end Jack earns the right to call him Jimmy and they remarkably stay decent through the whole thing. Then he gets stoned the next morning and talks to House (who took Vicodin). That night he goes to bed with the Doctor, who won't put out, and Jack tells him he knows the Doctor doesn't love him like that and it's okay.
Jack runs in to Wilson on the beach. He has found his item that his previous incarnation had given to House. Jack agrees to take it. Shortly thereafter, Jack succumbs to temptation. The Shelf has been offering him cans of Torchwood since the films began to show up and he sits and watches the first episode. He spends that night watching as many as he can. The island, always the bitch, sucks in Gwen Cooper the next day.
Jack watches Lisa treat Jeroen and thinks she'll be a great mom. Later, he watches an episode from House's future and Greg flips out that Jack is wearing the ring Wilson gave to him. They wind up fighting and Jack tells House to either be honest and open or pay him and he'll be his whore. House doesn't like that at all. They do make up, though, after House admits to taking Vicodin again.
Jack meets Padme and talks to her about the baby.
Under the aurora, Jack and the Doctor commiserate about being island-bound.
Dale and Jack reconnect as platonic life-mates. And there's coffee. Maturin comes to Jack's room and meets an owl and they talk. Jack would sleep with him, but gets the feeling Maturin isn't interested. However, he does screw Ragetti and the Doctor doesn't want to know. Both he and House know Jack will fuck anyone...but the truth of it is that the fact is wearing thin. Jack finds Lisa unwell and gets her to rest.
The island, the bitch, keeps on working the magic and Ianto Jones arrives from Torchwood as well. And if that wasn't enough, Jack has some doubts and goes to see Abby who confirms he's sterile. The baby that he doesn't know Lisa is pregnant with can't possibly be his. He keeps the information quiet.
Hot cocoa appears and Jack fakes being super horny from it. He and House go off to have sex...but it seems like that ALL they do anymore.
Lisa comes to Jack on Christmas morning to share the news. She's pregnant. Jack...keeps the lie going.
Jack responds by getting stoned. He chats with Abby who is amused, but ultimately annoyed. Shady visits to see if he's okay. Cuddy stops by and rubs his shoulders and he tells her she should run away. Ragetti gets a vocabulary lesson. Maturin kisses him near the mouth. Karen gets a Christmas present. Sarah Jane is fond of him. Neil gets hit on and turns Jack down. Gwen and Jack fight and then snog. The Doctor gets a contact high and they lounge about. Wilson rubs his shoulders, too. And Ianto and Jack come to an understanding of what their relationship was, is, and might be.
Jack has nightmares about Opposite weekend and Satellite Five. He and Ianto talk in front of the fire and they return to Jack's bed together. Just to sleep.
After new years, Jack and House fight. Again. Second verse, same as the first. Jack feels like he's just getting used as the convenient fuck, the kept boy. He returns late, not as upset, and covered in blood, and climbs into House's bed. They talk and agree that they need to do more than have sex if this is going to work out.
Wilson offers opening after opening for Jack to come clean about not being the father of Lisa's baby. He doesn't take any of them.
And then Faramir gets murdered. Jack is not as over the whole assault like he thought he was. He asks Dale for details. He tells House it wasn't him, and is told that even as a councilman, Greg would have lied for him. Jack tells him that's stupid. He also lets Greg know that whatever happened between Chase and the Doctor...he'll fix it. House tells him that it isn't his responsibilty. Jack admits how in love with House he is, and then the whole 'not having sex' thing falls apart and Jack tells him he needs him like air.[NC17]
He also talks to Ianto about how he feels terrible for wishing bad things on Faramir and not being as forgiving as he thought he was.
After the murder/suicide is all resolved, Toshiko arrives. Gwen finds out Jack dies in the future and seeks him out, telling him she loves him. He's deeply touched, although he keeps insisting he isn't her Jack. He catches Gwen and Ianto and Ace watching episodes of Torchwood. He sees the final one. They watch their past and future unfold on the screen. There is crying, angst, hysterics and hearts broken, but in the end bonds are strengthened and better understanding gained. And Jack finally sees that one day he WILL matter.
With that on his mind, he talks to Dale, who convinces him he should take a chance. Then he speaks with Ianto about life, the future, and Torchwood.
House tells Jack about Bridget Jones's pregnancy. Jack isn't upset...and tries to get out that he wants to try monogamy, but it doesn't quite work out. To soothe his hurt feelings, he goes and picks up Neil. Neil subsequently freaks out and Jack lets him leave.
Owen arrives from Torchwood. Ahead of schedule and not quite the twat he seemed like. Plus...great ass.
Jack and the Doctor agree to split. Stop it is, whatever this is they have. Both are hurting, even though it's right. Many people come to offer comfort. Logan comes and punches Jack after he goads him into it.
Additionally, a sub-plot to the arc was rebuilding Wilson's shaky friendship with House, and establishing how he views relationships now that he's on the island, namely his with Cuddy. This is a somewhat sketchy overview of that, and tries not to duplicate the links Shan posted.

Wilson isn't thrilled when House moves into the treehouse. He wonders if they're still friends. He doesn't trust Jack one bit.
In the mean time, Cuddy has become his best friend on the island. They live in the same room, but it's a non-sexual relationship until they
end up in bed together.
He tries honesty, but it doesn't work as well as he thought it should, and then
Jack explains a few things, and insists that both Cuddy and Wilson are part of what Wilson calls "the Arrangement."
Meanwhile, Wilson has become close to Death.
She makes a strange request, and he satisfies it, with disastrous effect. The whole thing has an unexpected side-effect: Wilson feels much closer to House.
He supported Cuddy's attempt to get pregnant, though he never thought it was the best idea in the world, and the
impact of her potential pregnancy on people who weren't directly involved came to him
only later.
When Cuddy's pregnancy is confirmed, Wilson agrees to be her doctor and works on putting his life in order to concentrate on learning how to manage a pregnancy case.
Wilson and House are
starting to get a little closer, especially around the holidays. But things don't get any easier for a while. And when they get easier, they get a lot easier. This helps compensate for some of the
distance he feels from Cuddy, which has been quietly creeping in since she got pregnant.
And that brings us to the night of January nineteenth...
