On the fourth day, Jack returned. He was hungry and tired and he'd finally had time to think. Now it was time to come back and face up to everything he'd done.

And undone.

He sauntered into the Compound as if he'd never been gone, took a shower and changed his clothes, the headed for the treehouse. He paused long enough to notice how the sky lightened as the sun rose. It was a new day and maybe things would work out. He had come to terms with his lies and his fears. What he wanted. What a child he'd been.

He opened the door and noticed Ianto wasn't on the sofa, but didn't dwell on it long. He went directly to Greg's room, closing the door behind him.

He laid quietly for a minute, then pulled up the bottoms and moved up to lay on his shoulder. "Not right now. Later, okay?"

House looked surprised, but then just nodded. He wanted to ask if anything was wrong, but... that might be a bit premature. "I suddenly find myself wanting to get a little more sleep myself," he murmured.

He closed his eyes, and then added, "I'm glad you're back, baby. But if you pull that shit again I won't be as glad next time."

He nodded and settled in closer, glad he didn't have to explain why he wanted to wait. He was on the edge of falling asleep, too, warm and comfortable next to Greg when he had a flash of a thought and sat up, kissed him, and hurried up to his room to put a halt to any hunting for his corpse.
