The beds had been easy once Stu showed him how. One tree cut to make four posts, another split to make four rails, and rope criss-crossed to fashion a spring form for the matress to lay on. Overall not a bad job.

Jack had made three, with a couple more ready to be assembled. He'd painstakingly gotten matresses together with dry grasses and fabric the box had coughed up when he flirted with it a little. Granted, it was garishly printed muslin from the late sixties and early seventies, but it held the grass, it was soft and strong, and it did the trick.

He'd only prepared one of the beds, though. He'd like to say that was all the bedding he could find, but the truth of it was it was their first night in the treehouse and Jack and the Doctor were alone. The only light came from a couple oil lamps and the only things in the place were the beds and some chairs, but that didn't really matter...

Jack was looking forward to one thing and one thing only.

His Partner.
