Owen and Tosh hadn't set a date, but it didn't stop Jack from making good on his 'threat'. He headed for her hut...her and Mark, that was right. She wasn't living alone anymore.

Jack knocked on the door frame and waited. There wasn't really any tactful way to ask her for this favor, but he wasn't too worried about getting slapped. Not by Maureen.

Mark was out, god knows where, though Maureen was actually at home for once, sprawled out on her bed with an open old issue of Cosmo she'd gotten from the rec room, painting her nails.

When she heard the knock, she got up and opened the door carefully with the thumb and forefinger of her left hand, the two nails she hadn't gotten to yet.

"Jack!" She grinned at him. "To what do I owe this unexpected pleasure?"

"Hey, gorgeous," he grinned, leaning in to kiss her. It was just friendly, only a greeting. Definitely not more than simply a kiss.

"I've got a favor to ask."

Maureen accepted the kiss gladly and then waved an arm towards the interior of the hut. "Come in, come in, and we shall discuss favors. I need to cap my nail polish."

There wasn't much to the hut, but one day several weeks ago, Maureen had enlisted Prior's help and they'd sewed dozens of large pillows that were piled on top of each other in some semblance of... well, something like a couch, or a giant bean bag chair, but abstracted into smaller components. Still, it was very comfortable for sitting on.

Jack followed her in and found a decent place to sit. More like lounge. He grinned at her as he watched her move around. God, she was good looking.

"I love what you've done with your place," he said. Of course, he'd never seen it, but it was nicer than the other place.

"Thanks, sugar," Maureen said, and capped the red nail polish, figuring she could finish later. "Prior helped me with the pillows. You know him?"

"Gorgeous, I know everyone," Jack chuckled.

Maureen laughed. "That's right. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if you'd fucked him... but I won't ask. I do have some sense of propriety." She sighed. "Though Roger won't tell me a thing. It's too bad Prior's as bent as a corkscrew. I had a threesome with Roger and Mark once, you know." So much for that propriety.

She was suddenly glad that she was dressed fairly well, even though she hadn't been out of the hut much today. Pleated jean skirt, white camisole underneath an orange jacket halfway buttoned up the front, white high heels.

"Lucky guys," Jack grinned, nodding appreciatively. "Hate to break it to you, but I've only danced with Prior...which kind of leads me to my favor," he continued, grinning a little wider.

"I need a stripper."

Maureen lifted an eyebrow. She knew very well what he was getting at, but still said, "I don't know, usually male strippers are little more buff than my buddy Prior. Not that he wouldn't look cute in a little cop uniform with tear-away shorts."

"I meant you," he replied evenly. "It's for a bachelor party."

"Mmmm I see." She smirked, putting her hands on her hips. "What makes you think I can dance?"

"Oh, come on. You're a performer, Maureen," Jack answered. "And I've danced with you before."

"I don't remember taking my clothes off while I did it," she pointed out. "Actually, I've never stripped before... I mean, you know, for an audience. That was one of the things I never did come across when I was struggling for money in New York, though I wouldn't have ruled it out. Whose bachelor party?"

"Owen. Doctor Owen Harper," he explained. "You know him?"

"Owen? Oh... yeah, Owen. I remember him. I think he might have flirted with me a little before he got involved with Mimi's girlfriend. Tosh. So they're getting married? That's great."

She gave Jack a little smile and added, "So are you asking me because I'm the hottest girl you know, or the one you think would be most willing to take her clothes off?"

"Because you're the one I'd like to see naked," he answered, winking at her. "...Because you are the hottest girl I know."

Maureen wasn't a pushover, but compliments were an easy way to win her over.

"Well I suppose I could give it a shot. Like I said, I've never really tried it."

"Maybe I should make you audition," he suggested.

"Oh yeah?"

Well, bachelor party or not, that might be fun. Even if she'd probably end up pulling out her vibrator afterwards.

"You gonna sing or something?"

"I'm not sure Cole Porter wrote anything to take your clothes off to," he laughed. "And I'm not great with...oh...I know a song by Spice Girls."

"That works," said Maureen. "Just so I don't feel like an idiot dancing to no music." She shook out her hair. At least her nails were dry.

He felt a little ridiculous and honestly couldn't remember many of the words, but Jack sat back and supplied the music as well as he could.

Maureen started to dance, and even if she hadn't stripped in public it wasn't as if she hadn't done it in the bedroom a few times, and she was a pretty good dancer in any case.

She disposed of her outer shirt first, going slow on the buttons and gyrating her hips, then hooking her thumbs into the waistband of her skirt. Then she turned her back to him and lifted her skirt up in the back a little as she danced, revealing the leopard-print thong.
