Jack found the package addressed to him and scurried off to his room to open it. He wasn't used to getting gifts. In fact, he hadn't gotten one since...well, there was Christmas, but he hadn't been given anything since Jane baked him a pie all his own.

He unwrapped it carefully and poured over the records and just stared at the player for a long time. It was surreal, this thing that really wasn't anything spectacular and yet he was so happy he couldn't stop smiling. After a long time of just exploring it, he took an LP out of it's cover and laid it on the turntable. A few cranks of the handle and it began to spin, Moonlight Serenade spilling out his door and down the stairs.

[for those treehouse people who want a dance]

"Grease?" Gwen giggles, hand lifting automatically to her mouth to cover her smile. "Alright, I reckon I can sing Grease. I know all the words, even."

And the timing was perfect. The song came to a hissing, popping end and Jack caught her hand.

"Summer lovin', had me a blast..." he sang, a capella.

She'd not thought he'd meant right then, and at first, Gwen falters, her mouth opening but no sound coming out. Another laugh with a shake of her head, and she looks up at Jack through her lashes.

"Summer lovin', happened so fast..."

"I met a girl crazy for me..." he sang, catching her chin with the knuckle of his index finger as he winked at her.

"Met a boy, cute as can be," Gwen sang, pressing a palm to her chest in a pseudo-swoon. The entire situation is surreal, standing here in a treehouse singing Grease with Jack, of all people. Yet, she looks positively giddy about it.

"Summer days," he started, waiting for her to join in, "...driftin' away, to uh-oh those summer nights."

And that was where he had to start laughing at the lunacy of it all.
