Logan | December plot
Dec. 3rd, 2011 05:31 pmJack was used to snow. He was accustomed to the month of December transforming the island into a wintery wonderland. This was a whole different animal, though. The island itself was gone. It had taken a bit of exploring but Jack had seen enough landmarks and sculptures in parks to realize this wasn't just a city- this was London. London during the reign of Victoria. It was crowded and close and it seemed there were extra people, but he could only just see them. They clearly weren't new people who he could meet and get to know.
It was bizarre.
That morning he'd woken up early, made Logan breakfast, and then got his husband to agree to some exploring Dressed well for the weather, Jack took Logan out and they headed down the streets. There were homes and there were parks and there were shops to see. Candy, clothes, ladies' amusements. It was fantastic.
"A hat shop," Jack said brightly. "Let's go in. We should both get hats."
He was just so excited to experience everything that it was hard to deny him.

Date: 2011-12-04 01:45 am (UTC)It wasn't as good as their usual winters- but Logan was almost grateful for the change. It would have been hard to get through his first winter without Joe if it had been the same as always.

Date: 2011-12-04 01:51 am (UTC)In fact, there was no place to pay when they went inside. Just hats on display and hat boxes stacked up almost to the ceiling. Jack was overwhelmed a little.
"It's been years since I've done anything like shopping. Real shopping."

Date: 2011-12-04 02:17 am (UTC)"Do I look pretty, Captain?"
no subject
Date: 2011-12-04 02:25 am (UTC)"What about this? Does it go with my side burns?" Side burns that consisted of three days of not shaving. They weren't remotely impressive, they just made him look scruffy.

Date: 2011-12-04 02:29 am (UTC)He grabbed a top hat and checked himself out in the mirror. "check it out. I'm a gentleman," he grinned, tipping his hat a little.

Date: 2011-12-04 02:37 am (UTC)Jack grabbed a bowler hat instead. It wasn't flattering.
"What about this one?"
no subject
Date: 2011-12-04 02:58 am (UTC)"I think you'd look better in the top hat."

Date: 2011-12-04 03:06 am (UTC)"We could spend the whole day out and about," he continued. "Maybe we could find something for the nursery. Or our bedroom."
He knew what he wanted. He'd love a real glass lamp and some fuel for it. He'd always loved a low steady flame for light. It sounded silly though and he didn't want Logan to think he'd lost his mind. He'd just been denied this particular pleasure for so long.

Date: 2011-12-04 03:25 am (UTC)"Shopping and food sounds like a plan though," he said, putting the bowler on his head. "That's something we never get to do."

Date: 2011-12-04 03:29 am (UTC)"I don't know if it'll stay, but we can enjoy it for now," he replied. His hat felt secure on his head so he decided to move in. He caught Logan's face lightly and kissed him.
"That hat looks good. The top hat looked good, too. Or maybe you should get a John Bull..."
He looked around and found the hat with a short crown that looked sort of like the top hat he had on. He offered it to Logan and thought he would look fantastic in that one.
"Tell me about the mall," he prompted.

Date: 2011-12-04 03:41 am (UTC)"Huh? Oh, the mall. Yeah, we used to skip school and go shopping sometimes when the waves sucked," Logan explained. "We'd shoplift and hang out in the food court."

Date: 2011-12-04 03:49 am (UTC)"You look gorgeous. High class," he said affectionately. "Come on, let's go find something interesting. Something strictly ornamental. The Victorians were good at ornamental."
He caught Logan's hand to lead him out of the shop, the bowler and the feathered number left behind. Next door was a clock shop and Jack stopped to look in the windows. It was funny...there was still no need to know the exact time on the island, even if it was suddenly London.

Date: 2011-12-04 04:01 am (UTC)"Hey, let's go check that out," he suggested. "We'll get you some cufflinks or whatever. Maybe find some fancy stuff. Then maybe we can get some clothes... have a date," he suggested casually.

Date: 2011-12-04 04:09 am (UTC)As soon as he said it he decided that even though it was true, it sounded foolish. Jack cleared his throat, ducked his chin, and started walking.

Date: 2011-12-04 04:17 am (UTC)"I love you, Captain Jack Harkness," he said, putting it out there simply because it was true.

Date: 2011-12-04 04:23 am (UTC)"I love you too, Logan Echolls Harkness," he replied. His fingers tightened and he pulled Logan to a stop so he could kiss him soundly in front of a toy shop window that was decorated for Christmas. Little wooden soldiers and china dolls were witness to the public display of affection.
"I love you so much."

Date: 2011-12-04 04:27 am (UTC)It was moments like this that made him realize how broken and lost he'd be if the island ever took jack away from him.

Date: 2011-12-04 04:35 am (UTC)"You need to shave," he chuckled softly. He didn't let go. Holding Logan close was all he wanted...well, not all he wanted.
"We need to quit this if we're going to spend the day shopping and eating. You make me want to drag you back to that fantastic bed of ours."

Date: 2011-12-04 04:39 am (UTC)"Fine, come on," he smirked, tugging Jack into the jewelry shop. "Shopping now, sex later."
no subject
Date: 2011-12-04 04:42 am (UTC)The jewelry shop was fantastic. Jack looked in the cases at the jewels and gems and gold and silver. He was busy looking at rings and ear bobs, he hadn't even gotten to men's jewelry.
"This stuff is beautiful."

Date: 2011-12-04 04:51 am (UTC)Come look at these," he said, picking up a tiny trinket box and showing it to Jack. "It's so small. Is it for pills or something?"
He paused and perked up as he thought about something. "Can we get pills now? Like, have you seem a pharmacy or something? They had good shit back in the day, right? Like cocaine and whatever."
Not that Logan would ever use cocaine. Even with Joe gone, he'd never... Or maybe he would. Maybe it would be a way of feeling more connected to the other man.
Curiously, he glanced at Jack.

Date: 2011-12-04 05:08 am (UTC)He was just chatting, giving Logan more details from his past. He didn't think of stories like that normally, but when something came up he would always be honest with Logan about his past.
