[for ianto and daniel] Wednesday Sept. 19
Sep. 20th, 2007 10:57 pmJack took the bucket and left House and Wilson together in the rec room. He made good on his suggestion, finding his way to Ianto's hut easily in the twilight. It really was magic because by the time he got there, not only had none of the ice melted, there were a few more beers than there had been before.
He knocked on the door and waited, hoping it was still early enough he wasn't interrupting anything. And hey, if he was, he had a peace offering.

Date: 2007-09-21 04:05 am (UTC)Except Jack didn't smell like pot, and when Ianto came closer, he could see that his eyes were perfectly normal. He didn't even look vaguely drunk.

Date: 2007-09-21 04:09 am (UTC)He was in a great mood, though, and started to come inside, the bucket swinging just a little. "I didn't have the heart to tell him that some of these would be better if they weren't ice cold, but it was nice of him to give them up. I don't think either of them had beer on their minds. It was sweet, really, how Wilson and House were close. Seemed...I don't know. Right," Jack shrugged, setting the bucket down and clapping his hands together.

Date: 2007-09-21 04:14 am (UTC)"Wand," he repeated, making sure he'd gotten that right. "As in magic wand." He wasn't going to take anything on the island for granted.
no subject
Date: 2007-09-21 04:17 am (UTC)"Wilson didn't happen to point that wand at you at any point, did he?" he asked. "Or... slip any drugs into that pepper beef?" As delicious as Chinese takeaway sounded at the moment, there was something seriously wrong when the one thing Jack cared about he didn't seem to care about anymore.

Date: 2007-09-21 04:21 am (UTC)"It was just on the table. I actually used it to open my beer. Here, we'll have to manage the old-fashioned way," he said, popping the cap off of a bottle and passing it to Daniel.
"There was pizza, too. And a television with baseball. God, I forgot how boring baseball is. But they liked it. I don't remember a team called the Flyers, though. That's who House was interested in." He shrugged and picked through the bottles, looking for one Ianto might like.

Date: 2007-09-21 04:27 am (UTC)There was something that was missing. Something he thought he should realize and it was killing him, because he thought it was important.
"Seemed...I don't know. Right." The phrase echoed in his head as if he should be able to understand why it related to the magic and how Jack seemed to be taking his boyfriend's apparent infidelity. But he couldn't quite connect the three.

Date: 2007-09-21 04:40 am (UTC)Ianto wasn't really in the mood to mince words or allude to things slyly with Daniel in the room. He had given up trying to hide things from him a long time ago, and this attitude of Jack's was worrisome.

Date: 2007-09-21 04:46 am (UTC)Something hitched his smile, just a little. He and Wilson weren't friends, and no words would make it be true. He just...huh.
"You think they're going to...is that what he meant about not waiting up? I just thought they'd...huh." Jack shrugged and grabbed blindly for a bottle and twisted the cap off the crappy American beer, chugging it as Ianto's words settled in uncomfortably to stay.

Date: 2007-09-21 05:10 am (UTC)Speaking of beer, he reached for another. A vague sense of panic was starting to creep in.
"House...you should have seen him. He was so...happy. I just want him to be happy."

Date: 2007-09-21 05:26 am (UTC)Except that he loved Ianto too much and he never actually did something about it. It almost sounded as if the island had done something to Jack.
He saw a smiling Adria in the background of the hut and, for a moment, she was the only thing that she could see. After a minute, he shook out of it.

Date: 2007-09-21 05:39 am (UTC)"Jack, if you don't start making sense I'm going to slap some sense into you," he informed Jack, looking at him very intently. "House is your boyfriend," he said carefully. "You love him. You've fought to keep him. You don't like Wilson. At all. And all this nonsense about Wilson and House being made for each other is complete and utter bollocks. You would never just walk away so that Wilson and House could shag each other and be this blithe about it."

Date: 2007-09-21 05:45 am (UTC)He took a step back and bumped into the table, reaching back to set the bottle down. He looked over at Daniel and his brows knit, creased, and finally he couldn't meet his eyes either. "I didn't feel guilty. It was just like I thought...he didn't even know. He doesn't pay attention. I...he...we..." he stammered, his eyes narrowing. "He told me not to wait up. It seemed like the most natural thing. That's not how it's supposed to be? He's not with both of us?" he asked, clearly trying to puzzle it out.
no subject
Date: 2007-09-21 05:52 am (UTC)"No, because you're clearly not with Ianto, even though you say you love him." He breathed, trying not to get pissed off and failing. He grabbed another bottle, popping it open. Jack had said he'd loved Ace, too, and no matter what Ace said, how they'd resolved it, he'd seen how hurt she was over it.

Date: 2007-09-21 06:00 am (UTC)He held onto the vague hope that whatever was affecting Jack was something like retcon, and if they jogged enough proper thoughts and memories, whatever was holding him would break down. It was worth a shot.
no subject
Date: 2007-09-21 06:06 am (UTC)Memory jogged, but instead of making him want to sprint back to the Compound and tear the two men apart, all he wanted was to drink another beer and...well...not wait up.

Date: 2007-09-21 06:25 am (UTC)See? it said. Maybe I wasn't as wrong as you seem to think I was.
"So, you've decided, what? That now is the time to hit on my boyfriend?" He couldn't help the flare of possessiveness that hit when the said the words, though he gave Jack a rather bland look.

Date: 2007-09-21 06:31 am (UTC)"You're going to regret this," he said calmly. "You really are. If the island's mucking around again and House is just as confused about everything as you were a minute ago, you're going to regret acting hasty right now."
no subject
Date: 2007-09-21 06:39 am (UTC)"Ianto, I appreciate your concern, really. But I'm going to drink my beer, then leave you two the bucket, walk out that door, and...let nature take it's course," he grinned, cheeky as hell. He popped the cap and held it, twisting it between thumb and forefinger as he took a drink. No one had any right to drink the way Jack did. Since he was actively reacquainting himself with everything he'd discarded to be with House, the air suddenly seemed thicker, the hut a little darker, everything close and warm in the best of ways.
He could even feel the heat rising from his neck and the scent it carried. There was no real mystery to how or why he'd always been very good at this.

Date: 2007-09-21 06:48 am (UTC)"I can handle myself," Daniel said with a small smirk. He considered Jack and shook his head. "I've seen worse. I've lived with worse. Vala would have had her hand down my pants ten minutes ago. The way I see it, you don't have anything on that."
Again, it was an exaggeration. Vala wasn't nearly as bad as that, but she'd been close when he first met her and it made for a good effect, now. Besides, he had Ianto beside him and so nothing could phase him. So he told himself.

Date: 2007-09-22 03:08 am (UTC)"Don't be the one to fuck this up, Jack," he said evenly. "Go back out there and get your boyfriend or stay here the night and find out what's different in the morning, but don't go out to pull. Just don't."
He ignored the way the room had changed, looking completely unphased as he kept his focus on Jack, as if willing him to knock himself out of this.

Date: 2007-09-22 03:15 am (UTC)Somehow, in the power struggle between the two of them, Daniel ceased to be a factor. Jack counted on Ianto for a lot of things, and a lot of the time it was to keep a level head. But he was on his fifth beer and his mind was competing with his heart for what the truth was.

Date: 2007-09-22 03:41 am (UTC)As long as it stayed that way, Daniel wasn't sure he'd have too much of a problem. As long as it stayed that way.

Date: 2007-09-22 03:44 am (UTC)"Don't do it," he said, firm but quiet. "That's not what you really want, Jack."
