Logan | Hurricane

The wind had begun to howl and Jack had been out in the thick of it. It was his job to make sure people were safe. Not at the cost of his own safety, though, and as the storm really hit, Jack was nearly home. He'd entered Bohemia and was nearly to his hut when part of the roof tore off the bath house. It flew through the air, unseen in the darkness and the rain. Jack didn't see it but he felt it as the wood hit his head and took him to the ground. He passed out for a minute and woke up soaked and muddy. The bit of roof had cut his head and his collar was soaked with watered down blood as he got to his feet and got to his door. He felt awful but he knew he needed to get inside.

That was about all he knew.

Logan noticed after a moment, and swore under his breath, nearly dropping everything.

"No, Jack, no, you can't sleep!" he said, slapping the man's cheek lightly. "You gotta stay up."

Jack's eyes flew open and he nodded in agreement.

"Right. Not sleeping," he said, then looked at Logan. "Why not, again?"

"You can't remember? Again? ...No, No I'm getting you a doctor," he said, panic showing on his features. "Stay here, do not sleep. Please, Jack, I need you to try and stay alert," Logan demanded, reaching for his coat.

"I'll come with you," he said earnestly, getting to his feet. His head throbbed but he wasn't dizzy at all. He wasn't even bleeding when he pulled his hand away from his wound.

"No, Jack, you're hurt, you can't come. You're really hurt, okay? Please, I just... I want you to be okay," Logan said, looking genuinely upset.

"I want to stay with you," he said, heading for the door. He opened it and saw the storm raging outside. It took some real effort to get the door shut again.

"We can't go out there. We're stuck here."

"Jack you're sick. You keep forgetting things and you're still bleeding. I can't just pretend you're not. I'm going out there, and you're staying here where it's safe."

"You can take care of me. I don't want to see House, Logan. Please....don't make me go to the clinic. They never do anything for me anyway. It's not like I'm shot. My head just hurts," he pleaded, taking hold of Logan's hand. "Let's wait. We can go when the rain lets up."

"Jack, this isn't just a bump on the head," Logan said quietly. "You keep forgetting things. What if you're going to forget everything like I did? I can't let that happen to you."

"You forgot me," Jack pointed out. "I know who you are. I'll be fine I just...I think I hit my head. I hit my head, right? You can take care of me. I'm not bad like you were. I'm just a little confused."

Logan looked pained and he shook his head.

"I don't think I know how," he said. "Jack, you're really hurt."

"You can do it. You take care of me all the time. Were you...you were making coffee, right?" he asked, looking back to the kitchen. "We'll be ok. I'll be fine. I just need to rest. No...wait. Can't sleep, right?"

Logan looked out the window and then looked at Jack again, clearly still stressed out and worried.

"Right," he said quietly. "I- I'll make some coffee."

"Are you going to keep me awake? Keep me out of bed?" he asked with a smirk. The thought of Logan keeping him out of bed was laughable.

"It's not funny, Jack," Logan said, looking annoyed. "You could really be hurt."

He banged around as he made the coffee, constantly looking out the window in hopes of finding a break in the storm.

"My head hurts," he said yet again, but this time he wasn't complaining. "I'm tough. I'll be fine. I just...what happened? I was at the beach and then...huh. It's so weird that I can't remember what happened. Don't you think?"

"No, Jack, I don't think it's weird, I think it's worrying" Logan replied, putting the coffee in front of him and hovering over him. "Are you hungry? Are you nauseous?" he asked, rattling off the questions quickly.

"I'm good except for my head," Jack said. And that's got to get better. I'm tired, too. But no sleeping. I know that. No sleeping with a concussion."

"I don't think it's a concussion, I think it's worse than that. You keep forgetting- that's bad, Jack," Logan said, still hovering over him and watching him.

"I don't want House to look at me," he said, stuck on the idea of House. It seemed like he was the only doctor who was ever on duty when he got hurt.

"He'd give me a hard time. Probably ask if you beat me or something,"

"Then we'll go see someone else, anyone else who knows more than me," Logan insisted. "you always talk about House like he's the only person who can help. Maybe Dale or Joe can help."

"But it's raining..."

It was more than raining. The hurricane was ripping the island apart. Trees crashed down and the roof sounded like something was going to tear through it at any minute. There was no way they'd make it across Bohemia, much less to the Compound to find someone.

"Jack, the island could be on fire and it wouldn't stop me if I needed to take care of you," Logan replied.

"You're taking care of me just fine. We have coffee and we're safe from the weather. It's okay, Logan. We just need to stay awake. And I need some tylenol," Jack assured him.

Logan didn't agree, but he bit his tongue as he nodded a little and went off in search of the Tylenol he knew they had somewhere.
