Jack went back to the treehouse after the lab. He couldn't figure out how he was going to handle the look of disappointment in Lisa's eyes, couldn't stand the thought of House telling him how stupid it was to have even tried. And the Doctor...fuck.

Just fuck.

He laid on the sofa, which still smelled faintly of Ianto, and watched the fire burn lower. He should get up and toss another log on. He should get up and do something. Anything. Thinking this over a hundred times wasn't going to change the fact that he was different than he had been before.

"Yeah," the Doctor whispered again, and he did, from the way he said it. "I think I really do." And then there was a kiss, and he met it. He wasn't going to leave again.

Settled into the sofa with the familiar weight and closeness, Jack could have kissed him forever. Or at least hours. He pressed his hips up to get a little more comfortable and it was obvious this wasn't about sex. He wasn't hard, wasn't breathing any differently, and the way he touched with light fingers, it was like he was memorizing the Doctor...even though he already knew every inch of him.

"Mm..." The Doctor's fingers curled deeper into his hair, and he spread his legs, cradling Jackc between them as they kissed. "My sweet Jack," he murmured, and wrapped his other arm around him.

He cupped a cheek as he pushed his other hand up under the Doctor's shirt, calming from just the contact. "Doctor," he whispered, "mai issai."

He pressed a kiss to Jack's neck and murmured. "Deoi bat hei, Jack-ah. Really."

"It doesn't matter," he said as he craned his head back, breathing deeply. "I love you...right now. Right here."

The Doctor laughed quietly, a sound of pleasure. "Love you too. Want to..." He flushed slightly. "Well, the fire's quite nice."

"Yeah," he breathed, wrapping both arms around him and holding on. "Want to what?"

"Less clothes, more you," the Doctor replied, and grinned a little quirkily at him, tugging his shirt up.

Jack laughed softly, arching a little to help as his shirt came off. "More me? That sounds good. No clothes, warm fire. You," he smiled as he closed his eyes.

He ran his fingers down Jack's bare chest, tangling briefly in the thin patch of hair. "Entirely naked...I don't know, what would the flatmates think."

"They'd think it was any other Wednesday," he laughed while bringing the back of his finger down the Doctor's cheek. "And that we should get a room."

"Should we?" the Doctor asked, bending down to slowly kiss his chest, one inch at a time.

"Maybe we should," he breathed softly, watching his lips for each kiss. "Yeah. Yeah, we should."

"Your place or mine?" the Doctor said, voice quiet against his chest. "There's a fireplace in yours, isn't there? Blankets..."

"Mine," he nodded softly. "It's not a big hearth, but it'll do. Keeps it warm."

Easing up, the Doctor offered him a hand and picked up his shirt. "Between the two of us, the blankets, and the fire, I think we'll be fine. Think you can handle the floor?"

"Could always pull the mattress off the bed if it's that awful," he smiled. "But I think I can cope."

"It'll be sexy," the Doctor said, heading up the stairs and stripping his own shirt off as he did. "Never mind the aches and pains."

"You think the floor is sexy?" he asked, laughing softly. "You're a romantic."

"The floor, by the fire...plenty of blankets..." He turned and cocked his head, opening Jack's door. "Is that a crime?"

"Not at all," he answered, walking in and heading to the hearth to start the fire. It didn't take long before there was a small blaze and he added gradually bigger sticks until it was going well. "You just...don't. With me," he said softly. "Be romantic."

The Doctor cocked a brow and shut the door, fetching blankets. "Well, maybe I should, on occasion." He set them down and walked over to Jack, fingers moving up his bare chest. "When you need it."

He laughed softly, almost bitterly. "It's what I do, not what I need."

At least, he wasn't supposed to need it. Or want it. He shook his head and sighed, starting to get up. "I'll help spread out the red one. Come on."

"Shut up," the Doctor said, and ran his hand over Jack's back, easing him down to the ground where some of the blankets already lay. "You protest too much."
